im having a lot of trouble finding anything on the bamboo stick with beads and a chain. i cant find anything on it. any suggestion on how to go about finding an object with unknown origin. maybe i should look into beads?
I am looking for wood beads and I came across this: http://collections.tepapa.govt.nz/Object/95112 The beads look similar to the ones on the bamboo stick if I remember correctly. good luck :)
I've been looking too, on your behalf, and wonder if it might be a nose flute (http://www.captcook-ne.co.uk/ccne/exhibits/C686a/index.htm). I've also thought about ear ornaments (diameter is too large, I suspect) or even a pipe stem. I need to look at it again on Tuesday, but for now, try to look for other nose flutes from the South Pacific.
i think its a nose flute makes sense and they are made out of bamboo. they decorate them with eith paint or carvings it seems. maybe this one was decorated with beads?
